The documents and imaging modules are separate modules of the IMPACTxp system, which allow technical drawings, images and documents to be linked to plant items, work orders & spare parts.

Popular word processing packages can be used to produce work instructions, safety documents and permits to work, whilst drawings can be linked to work orders to illustrate exactly what is required for a job. Documents and drawings can either be viewed on screen or printed with work orders and/or purchase orders as needed.

check lists

The document module currently supports Microsoft Word, WordPerfect and Microsoft Excel. IMPACTxp can access, read and print any files that are created using these word processing packages, via this module.

Detailed written instruction may therefore be required if a job involves unskilled labor or a task that is especially complex. The document module therefore provides a useful facility for the attachment of:

Work instructions
Permits to work
Health & safety requirements
Fire regulations

In addition, it provides a secure environment for documentation that is likely to get damaged or misplaced, for example equipment manuals. Using the document module, this document can be printed again and again without fear of losing important information or can simply be referred to on screen.

All documents created are logged into the document register within IMPACTxp and suitably identified with a reference number and description. Any document from the register can then be attached to plant items, work orders or spare parts. When a work order is printed the checklist will automatically be printed at the back.

multiple check lists

Any number of checklists can be attached to an item of equipment or work order. For instance, instructions on how to do the work, any permits needed to carry out this work and the documentation to be signed to verify that the work has been done in accordance with health and safety regulations.

universal check lists

Likewise, a single checklist can be attached to a wide range of equipment; for example the servicing of a gearbox would involve the same principles regardless of its size and usage. The checklist can therefore be attached to all gearboxes thus saving time.

imaging and cad

Like the document module, imaging enables the user to attach additional information to plant items, work orders and spare parts in the form of scanned images and/or CAD drawings. Images and drawings can be very useful to an engineer who has been assigned to a particular job. An image at the back of a work order for example would help the engineer to locate an exact plant item - particularly useful in remote sites. In the case of older equipment, scarce documentation can also be scanned to ensure preservation. The user is also able to fabricate parts from drawings without having to visit a plant item to measure up.

scanned images

Virtually any scanned image including graphs, pictures, photographs, and thermal images can be logged into the IMPACTxp image register with an identification and description. These images can be attached to an item at any time. The IMPACTxp imaging module supports scanned image files, which have been recorded in a number of formats including:

BMP
DCX
GIF
JPG
PCT
PCX
TGA
TIF
WMF
WPG

cad drawings

CAD drawings can also be held in a register within IMPACTxp. IMPACTxp has been designed to display and print files that conform to the following type:

DXF
DWG

The IMPACTxp CAD viewer gives engineers the ability to examine CAD drawings in great detail and allows AutoCAD 3D drawings to be zoomed, rotated and panned on screen as well as providing printed copies when needed.

These modules can be utilized in any module mix but are most often used in conjunction with:

Base module (mandatory)
Condition monitoring
Runtime scheduling
Stock management
Purchase order management
