matrix wins contract with nottingham tram consortium

Matrix Resource Management, part of SoftSols Group has won a contract with Nottingham Tram Consortium to install and maintain their software product, IMPACTxp.

L-R Sinead Scott, Maintenance Engineer at Nottingham Tram Consortium with Stuart Turner of Matrix Resource Management LtdNottingham Tram Consortium has a 30 year contract to operate and maintain the Nottingham Express Transit. Line One consists of a 14km route running from Hucknall to the City Center. There will be 5 park and ride sites and 23 tramstops along the route. For most of the day, passengers will not have to wait any longer than five minutes for one of the 15 trams in the fleet.

IMPACTxp will schedule the repairs and maintenance of the Tram Infrastructure, to ensure that the system is maintained to a high standard, and the service for passengers is safe and efficient providing a fast and frequent way to travel in and out of the city.

Before the Nottingham Tram Consortium committed to the contract, Matrix initially supplied the company with PILOTxp, the pilot version of IMPACTxp for a test period. Prior to striking the deal, Matrix also organized a site visit for the company, where Nottingham Tram engineers were able to visit South Staffordshire Water to see IMPACTxp at work.

Sinead Scott, Maintenance Engineer at Nottingham Tram Consortium commented:

“We were particularly impressed that Matrix offered us a testing facility for IMPACTxp, which allowed us to get to grips with the product and effectively trial it first. The trial went smoothly, and the quality consultation that we received throughout that time demonstrated that we could form a strong working relationship with the Matrix team. IMPACTxp was found to be flexible, user friendly and meet our business requirements at a competitive price, so they were selected as the preferred supplier for the contract. Three key members of our staff have been trained and we look forward to working with Matrix in setting up the system.”

Roger Attisha, business manager at Matrix Resource Management commented: “This is a really interesting project for us to be involved in and we’re delighted that Nottingham Tram has chosen to work with us after trialling IMPACTxp. It’s great to be involved in this project from the start and we look forward to developing our relationship with Nottingham Tram.”

Construction work on Nottingham Express Transit started in June 2000 and by November 2003, trams will be running on the Nottingham streets.
